I rub my eyes and yawn as the sound of Spencer closing the front door wakes me up. I guess I must have fallen asleep while waiting for him to come home. I stretch my arms above my head and stand up from the couch as he walks into the living room.

“Hey,” I say.

“Hi.”

I put my hand over my mouth as I yawn again. I can't believe how much the time difference between here and Australia is kicking my butt. Hopefully I can get adjusted quickly because I feel like I'm ready for bed and it's not even dark out yet.

“What happened?”

“With my agent?”

“Yeah… you didn't say it was going to be a multi-hour type of meeting.”

Spencer walks into the kitchen, opens the fridge and takes out a beer. He opens it and drops the cap on the counter as he walks toward the living room. I grab a bottle of water out of the fridge and join him on the couch.

“Sorry about that… it was just a mess.”

“What happened?”

He takes a long drink of his beer. I'm a little surprised he still hasn't said anything about my audition. I'm not upset or anything… just kind of surprised. Usually he's excited for me when something like this happens and he looks completely lost in his own thoughts.

“It was… I don't even know what to say.”

I slide closer to him and put a hand on his arm.

“You can tell me anything,” I say, “you know that. I'm not going to judge you or question the decisions you feel like you need to make. I'll support you in any way I can… always.”

“Yeah?”

“Of course… I love you… and you're my husband.”

He nods and takes another drink of his beer before setting it down on the coffee table. Spencer turns toward me on the couch and looks into my eyes.

“I've been torn up inside for weeks after the whole Pandora thing.”

I had a feeling he was disappointed that he wasn't going to be in it, but I had no idea that he was feeling so crappy about the whole thing.

“I… I thought you said the timing wasn't right.”

“I did… I said that.”

“Was there a different reason why you didn't take the role?”

Spencer looks down at the floor and nods his head slowly.

“Spencer… you can tell me… whatever it is.”

“I just… I don't know. I feel like I want to be with you… I want to spend time with you.”

“I'm glad you feel that way… because I feel the same way about you, but I fail to see what that has to do with Pandora.”

“It has everything to do with Pandora.”

“I… I'm not sure what you're saying.”

Spencer stands up from the couch, walks toward the kitchen… and then turns around and walks back. He continues to pace, pausing every few steps.

“I just can't imagine us being apart for that long… so I told them no.”

Ugh. I guess people were right… he's not doing the film because of me. Not in the sense some of them probably imagined… but still.
